Replacing the covers of your baseboard heaters may seem like an intimidating task, but it’s actually very simple. Usually, the whole process will only take a few minutes and won’t require any tools. If you’re preparing to install your own heater covers, read this guide on how to measure and install custom baseboard heater covers.
The beauty of custom baseboard heater covers is that they allow you to get a custom fit that’s perfect for your heater. Here’s how to measure your baseboard heaters.
Measure your heater vertically from the floor to the top of its wall plate.
Measure vertically from the bottom of the finned tube heating element to the top of the wall plate.
Measure horizontally from the back of the wall to the front of the heating element.
Determine whether your heater cover is still present, or will need to be installed with new brackets. You may need brackets if your heater’s wall backplate has been removed.
Measure the length of your baseboard heaters. If your heater is straight and along a wall, this process will be easy. Simply measure the length of the heater unit with its ends attached, then subtract ½ inch. If your heater has corners, the process is a bit more complicated. On L-shaped, U-shaped, and Z-shaped heaters, measure each leg, subtracting 3 inches from each leg for every inside corner (no need to subtract length for outside corners). See manufacturer detailed instructions for exact details on all measuring.
Installing a baseboard heater cover is just as easy as measuring for one. Here are the quick, simple steps for installation.
Remove the endcaps from both sides of your baseboard heater.
Pull the front plate off your baseboard heater. If you need to use brackets, install those in their proper place on the wall.
Snap the replacement baseboard heater cover into place over your baseboard heater, then complete installation.

Just use the self-tapping screws to secure them to the top of your existing wallplate.
EZ Snap™ Wall Contraptions are used when your wall back plate has been completely removed. To install, slide up from the bottom and make sure the top is at your desired height. Screw to the wall, then bend the front finger up to hold the fin tube in place.
